the city was beautiful today.
the city was beautiful today. the sun was shining brightly. the lake glittered blue. the leaves are orange, yellow, and green and all the colors in between. the street here have lots of big beautiful trees. it was amazing today to look down a street and see all the colors – and the truly beautiful view ended with the brilliantly blue lake.
I ventured down to wriglyville today – just to see. i love the little neighborhoods filled with little stores and shops. chicago is truly an amazing city. today i fell a little bit in love with the city. chicago is so different than anywhere else i’ve lived – in the beginning the flatness, the grayness, the uckyness turned me off – but that feeling is changing. Tomorrow i am going to see my favorite author speak at the chicago humanities festival, “The thirteenth annual Chicago Humanities Festival, Brains & Beauty, examines the tensions and ties between intelligence and aesthetics across centuries, cultures, and generations.”
i feel like i am living the life i always dreamt of – living in the city, spending saturday in shops (the used book store was having a sale today!), and spending sunday downtown. The lecture is at the natural history museum – not in it – just in its theatre, so i am trying to decide if i want to do the museum tomorrow also. I doubt i will. I actually have homework and laundry to do tomorrow. i would have done them today had i know the extent of the lecture series, but alas. I am looking forward to spending the early afternoon downtown. See my favorite author, get something to eat – enjoy the city.
