it is simply amazing how my time slips away. In my past grad school gig, i had a lot more time to blog and to read the internets as I did a lot of babysitting. Now I have so much reading. it seems like i work more now. I might. I work into the evening most evening. My time just evaporates. Though i don’t mind the work. The stuff i do is really interesting, so i don’t really mind spending my sunday doing work.
Last night we had Tom and Jon over for dinner. i really like having people over. I made chili and cornbread and an apple pie. I trying out different recipes. Pies are hard to experiment with because it is hard to make a little pie and you can’t really taste it (like batter) to make sure everything’s going to be good in the end. The chili and cornbread were great; the apple pie was good, but not good enough for me. There are a couple of ways to make apple pie in addition to the ingredients, and i’m on a quest for the best.
I really like entertaining. I like sitting around our table until 1 am chatting. I got caught up on all the mat sci news. and it was fun. People like to come over and play with the puppy, and we need people to come play with the puppy, so it is a great arrangement.
i love apple season. we got some amazing honeycrisps at the store last week. They were one sale and they were so fabulous that i got some more this week, even though they weren’t on sale. I’m not sure exactly what happened, but I guess i didn’t notice they were $4/lb. We got three large apples, and it was like $8. Oh well, we had one when we got home and decided they are totally worth it.
