Whew. I guess I’ll recap the fabulous weekend. The weather was perfect. Traffic up there not so much. I think that most people got up there with just a small amount of trouble. One of my favorite parts of the weekend was spending time with my friends. I did get to spend more time with them then I thought I would. I hung out with Sarah, Kent, and Carter late Friday night. I cut programs while they entertained me. I spent a large amount of time with liz, who is awesome and really needs to move to Chicago. We got to have Saturday brunch with Chris and Ray. One of the best parts of the weekend was getting to know Ray, who I adore.

The pre-wedding softball (mushball) game had an amazing turn out. Way way more people than I expected came out. There was like 60 people there, the majority of them playing. (The wedding guest last was ~100) I stayed for an hour until the bridal party had to go get showers. I hear that the game went on for a bit.

The bridemaids got ready in suite until pictures started. Our photographer, though awesome, was a tad crazy with the pictures. From the time with the pictures of the dress and accessories with the getting ready pictures to the wedding party pictures, we were tilting and smiling for 3 or so hours. The light was perfect, the fall hills an awesome back-drop.

The ceremony was on the harbor on Lake Geneva at sunset. There was a harvest moon that rose as the sun set. It wasn’t that cold (perfect for suits). The ceremony was short and sweet and down to earth. My minister who came up wed us is awesome. She played mushball and is all around the greatest. She had a great time too. And people loved her as much as I do.

The cocktail hour was full of chatting with friends and people I didn’t really know. The reception was great. The food was better than at the tasting (though I didn’t eat much really, too many people to talk to). The cake was AWESOME. I had 3 pieces (HEY it’s my wedding). I would totally just have the cake lady make me cake every year. The band was spectacular. Their first set was more “classic” song (i.e. songs chris loves) that were made for swing dancing and for the older guests. During the first band break Pete and Jay played. It was a surprise for me from ben. (The first dance song was a surprise for ben from me – All I Want is You (U2).) Pete and Jay played one of our favorite songs (Such Great Heights – the Iron and Wine version). They also did a couple of other song including one that got everyone out on the floor went was a perfect segway into the bank “funking it up” as ben requested, and the rest of the evening saw the older people drift home and most of the young people dancing like crazy. It was awesome. The band really made the reception from great to awesome.

Not to gush or anything. It was awesome. I would not have a change a single thing. Of course, none of it would have been possible with our awesome parents – for many many reasons. We are so lucky to have such great families.
