kiss me once

-there is a lot of crying during the intial weigh-in on the biggest loser.  Did these people not weigh themselves before they went on a show where it would be done on national tv?!?

-the second trimester has resolved the fatigue (yay!).  I have not needed a nap yesterday or today!  But also: my sweet tooth is back.  brownies are yummy!

-my classes started today. my morning class is going to be interesting b/c (1) i like microeconomics and (2) my friend emily is there. it was nice to have lunch with her today.  my afternoon class is a three hour medical cost effectiveness class.  It turns out it is with a social services dept class, so I was expecting 16, but it turns out to be more like 40! and there are weekly homeworks, no biggie, except there was a passing mention of groups (!!!).  Of course, that makes me freak out, but I am trying to keep it in check until i actually find out what they mean by groups and until it becomes a problem.  I did know one other girl in there from my other classes, so i am trying to make friends with her.  The three hours were interesting, and went by quickly, so i think the angst will be worth it. i stressed about the group project in my climate class, and that was fine, so i’m trying to be patient and focus on stressing if the group projects become annoying.  i’m trying to be better about making “friends” in harris, so grp projects aren’t so stressful.  still, i wish there would be no group.

-if i was on the biggest loser, i would definitely want bob.

-as part of ben’s fantasy spring training trip, he has rented a mustang for our weekend in phoenix.

-question – use frequent flier miles for one of our trips to houston or save them? we’ve always saved them to upgrade to first class, but now aa has a $50 fee each way for upgrade. so it makes more sense now to use them.  especially since airlines are  upping the miles required for tickets. now that i figured out that ben and i have a decent amount of miles, i’m all obsessed about it.  had i know prior to booking our flight to phx, i would have done things a little different. so here’s my poll….use the miles? or save the miles?  the thing is that i don’t see us traveling for at least the year after the next baby is born. but also with airlines and there increased fees, will the miles actually lose value?  as much as i like traveling first class the one time i did it on miles, in the end it doesn’t make sense to forgo two trips just to fly first class on one trip.  so I guess my answer is to use them, as I would only save them for us to get to the level to get a first class ticket.  (though i just looked and we both have enough miles to go off-peak to hawii. i told ben and he said, and when are we taking these trips?)  choices, choices, i’m just not sure.

I always use miles for free tickets rather than upgrades. I look at how much the ticket costs without the miles. On Continental, its the same number of miles for all domestic tickets — and going to visit my brother in college in Burlington, VT or taking a last minute trip for a family emegergency could be expensive, $400 or more. Whereas, well in-advance trips to big hub cities like Houston or Atlanta were relatively cheap, like $200. So I tried to always use my miles for more expensive or last minute flights. Of course, I travel 3-5 times or more a year, since all my family is out of town so I can wait until a “more expensive” trip pops up to use miles.. .
