32 wks!
SO, yesterday in my law and policy class, the girl who shares my table, who spends the WHOLE three hours not paying attention FINALLY got called on by the professor. I about fell out of my chair. He does call on people. Like the same 5 people whose name he can remember. (never on me, b/c he doesn’t know my name, i suspect, but i give him no reason to learn it as i participate, and, well, don’t really raise my hand. if he asks a question and no one is answer and i want to answer, i just talk. i’m really too old to raise my hand.)
anyways, he does not call on those that don’t participate, but pretty much everyone else that bothers coming (only half the class was there yesterday) pay attention except for this girl. OF COURSE, she did not know the answer. and it was a pretty simple question, but further, she could have ventures SOMETHING. but i’m pretty sure she had no idea which case we were talking about even if she had read it. she certainly didn’t know how to compare it to the case we had just talked about as that would require LISTENING, not doing internet things.
do people really think that profs can’t tell if they are surfing the internet/taking notes on their computer? PLEASE. anyone can tell the difference between typing notes and paying attention vs surfing. for one: USE OF THE MOUSE. no mouse needed for taking of notes.
granted, i spent all of my writing class yesterday paying scrabble on my phone (SO COOL), but i was paying attention. and it is a class of 120 instead of 26 (well, 15 yesterday) plus. not a participation class.
