thank goodness for RSS feeds, huh.

so for reals, i might actually return to blogging. it has been insane this past month, but with this first day of the new year, life is finally settled. in a way that it hasn’t been for a very very long time. it has been a rollarcoaster of a past year – high highs and low lows, and i’m hoping that the next year is more peaceful, yet still full of the joy and love that my families have brought me.

I was very sick yesterday, like had to lay around all day sick (well, anti-nauseous meds allowed me to get my 4 miles in. Virginia is HILLY) but the rest of the day i was either dozing on the couch or on my bed. Liam had been sick the day before, so i suspect that by the 24 hour nature of it that he just picked up a stomach bug and then passed it along. so that is to say we had a very low key new year’s eve. i was asleep by 10:30. not that i would have done anything differently. i hate new year’s eve. more in principle then practice. i think the idea of someone to kiss at midnight and a day of resolutions is dumb. either you make changes in your life or not. but i dislike that people make sweeping resolutions and then make themselves feel bad when they don’t achieve them. small steps.

the kids were up early this morning, and continuing in our consumption habit we went to the mall to get house stuff. (moving + new job (needing work clothes) makes you buys a lot of stuff). Though, highlight for the day, we FINALLY spent a restoration hardware giftcard we got in 2007 for our wedding/aiden’s birthday. they were having a 20% off towel sale. we do need new towels both for us and guests. and we got all the towels and bathmats we desired and paid $6!!!!!! it was so freaking awesome. and. i am so happy to have that giftcard spent. i also went and exchanged a pair of work pants at gap that were too big. i have two pairs. and they only had one in the 8. so i exchanged one of them. i usually like things being loose, but these are trouser cut and too big trouser cut look like MC hammer pants san cuff. i am actually thinking that i should just eat more cookies. but first, need to go get more cookies. Our kitchen is just full of starter things.

we are all loving virginia. i am LOVING the warm weather today. it currently feels like 5 in chicago. it is 56 here. and though i know it is going to cool off this afternoon, but i am totally enjoying hoodie weather. also. NO SNOW COVER.

seize the day

today we went downtown to ben’s dad’s appearance. we drove b/c my back is not quite right. we parked in one of those lots you pay the machine and then put the receipt in your front window. we went about our day – lunch, then aborted book fair browsing due to a major thunderstorm, ben’s dad’s panel. As we were leaving, a nice lady with a car full of pre-teen asked us how much it was to park. i told her $20, and agreed that it was rude that they jacked the price up for special events. As she waited for our space, ben was like, we should just give her out receipt. So we did. She was quite thankful.

Oh our way out of downtown, we had already decided to stop at the popcorn place. We past two store one our way to the one we frequent. I jumped out. There was no line. As they made my mix, the guy told me that the computer was down, so if they finish with my popcorn before the manager got there, i could just take it. i noticed that the register was frozen on a screen that listed a lot of xl carmel popcorn to a totaly of >$3,800. I laughed as the manager did arrive and asked the dude if he had been playing with the register. Then she told me to just take the popcorn. free popcorn. not just any popcorn, but the best ever.

it is called karma.

hey how do you do

Helping with the shopping by testing the spinach at trader joe’s.

This article about women getting rejected from insurance coverage because of a prior caesarean makes me angry.  I don’t like how women get penalized for the having of the babies. Shouldn’t men and women get charged for the having of the babies?  I always thought it was unfair that the father’s insurance doesn’t cover prenatal and birth costs if it does not cover the mother?  Why isn’t the father held responsible for these costs caused by his baby?

one answer: universal health care.

so. ben and i love love love the fruit tarts from whole foods.

so. so. the pepper’s farts stink!

stink stink stink.

my vet gave me her personal e-mail address. under the guise that she wants to get pics of aiden. she loves aiden. she is awesome. she had a bbbbbbiiiiiggggg rock on her finger. she is funny. do you think i can e-mail her asking her about her life? i am soooo intrigued!

but any time it rains / she just feels a lot better

Last week, at the closing, i kept the children entertain basically by watching jenny’s cute cute cute niece emerson feed aiden cheerios.  it was so cute.

so. here we are. after much tweaking, i have gotten wordpress publishing.  the software is very easy. the messing with templates took forever for me to finally get somewhere I liked.  I am a huge WP fan now with these widgets they have.  all the stuff in my sidebar used to be put in the code by hand.  WP has these little things that allow you to do it from the software. The only downside is with the MU insulation, I cannot put straight javascript in – so no running stats.  though I think i can make a widget to do it.  We’ll see…  The only other thing is that it doesn’t have an image upload button in this entry screen.  it isn’t that big of deal to do it by hand. but i know there is a plugin, so i still have to work on that.

I made amazing angel food cake cupcakes last weekend from scratch.

so i recommend WP. I will even offer my services if anyone needs them….

ALRiGHT. either my plugin worked or i totally missed the add media button at the top!  whichever it works!

counting crows always transports me back to college life. The time of my life in college and the couple of years later when things took up the spaces in my head that I rarely think about now.  I miss those times in the warm atlanta rain…

I’m not gonna write you a love song

this is one of my favorite things – aiden “reading”. He love books. I love that he loves book.

i got ben mario cart for the wii for father’s day. it is awesome. i am addicted. i played it for 2 hours yesterday afternoon and did something strange to my eyes. It freaked me out, but once it was better, I was back to racing around that track.

aiden is going through a growth spurt. he eats and eats and eats. he is napping well. and the gymboree chick comments that he looks bigger than last week.

it hurt if he get his finger in your mouth. his teeth are sharp!

he alllllllmost crawling. He can certainly get himself around the living room no problem.

i have not done the switch to wordpress b/c i am being unreasonably picky about the site look. there are a million choices and I can’t find one like this one. I can’t use the same code with same WP changes b/c WP is way cooler and has wigets that update the stuff on the right without having to go into the code. that is awesome.
